Getting started in online flying has never been easier. Gone are all those extra modules which were required to make Squawkbox 2 work with FS2002 and FS2004, PLUS you now have a choice of two fantastic freeware programs to get you online with the minimum of fuss.
To get online in the shortest possible time there is now only one piece of software needed - Squawkbox 3 (SB3). This has a built in voice capability and so no other software is required. The download centre is below. Guides to installing and using SB3 can be found via Training/Guides
The alternative is FSInn which does the same job as Squawkbox, but this does currently require you to have a copy of the Advanced Voice Client (AVC) installed on your PC. Future versions of FSInn will also have voice capability included.
If you don't already have it then you'll also need one of the most important pieces of software yet written for flight simulation - FSUIPC. This is the utility which allows FS2002 and FS2004 to interface with other software including our own OSP and ACARS programs.
Not essential but very useful is a little piece of software called UK Routes. It was written by our own pilot Graham Sumner and can be updated with monthly AIRAC cycles. It will offer routes between any two UK aiports. Great for regional flying.
Largely superseded now by the flight map in our OSP, but still with useful features, is Server Info. All the pilot / controller / callsign / airlines information you might ever need.
