Welcome to the Speedbird Online Reception Desk. Listed below are the most commonly asked questions about our organisation.
Q. What is Speedbird Online?
A. Speedbird Online is a Division of British Airways Virtual - the world's favourite virtual airline. To participate you must own and be familiar with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, 2004 (FS9 Century of Flight) or FS X.
Q. What does Speedbird Online do?
A. Speedbird Online promotes online flying using the Internet. Real-time Air Traffic Control is provided by our partners VATSIM. We offer training to help our members become proficient & professional online pilots. We also organise special events for our members twice a month.
Q. What sort of person joins British Airways Virtual?
A. We have people from all walks of life including real airline pilots. Ages range from 16 years to over 70 years. All share a love of flight simulation and want to make their experience ' as real as it gets'.
Q. How do I become a member of Speedbird Online?
A. First you have to join British Airways Virtual. You'll need to be patient though as there is sometimes a waiting list. Secondly you have to file an online flight with BAV. This then gives you automatic membership to Speedbird Online and you gain those highly prized 'wings' alongside your name on the BAV Pilot Rosters.
Q. If I join British Airways Virtual will you teach me how to fly online?
A. Yes. Although you cannot be a member of Speedbird Online until you have filed an online flight, you can use all the training facilities offered by Speedbird Online in order to gain your membership.
